Vestibular analysis designed for very convenient computer aided analysis of position and caloric tests. VN415 is a cutting edge product designed for superior computer aided vestibular evaluation. VN415 is Interacoustics’ baseline VNG platform with industry-standard protocols for Spontaneous Nystagmus, Bithermal Caloric, Positional and Dix-Hallpike testing.

VN415 features excellent eye-tracking with high-speed cameras (174 Hz monocular, 105 Hz binocular). The high resolution combined with FireWire® technology gives you real time analysis, very precise measurements and outstanding on-screen video quality. Add to this the Interacoustics combi goggle, a light weight goggle with a magnetic eye cover to easily switch between occluded and non-occluded set-up.  Furthermore, the goggle features disposable foam cushions to ensure hygienic patient testing as well as a comfortable, light tight fit. Dual position mirrors, and cameras that can be horizontally and vertically adjusted, as well as focused, complete the hardware package for VN415.

Connect and Go Testing
Start the software, place the goggles on the patient and you are ready to test. The ease of use of the VN415 is a major factor in its success. There is no bulky equipment to get in the way.

High Quality Video and Analysis
The VN415 performs real time analysis. Rapid data transfer (105 Hz binocular, 174 Hz monocular) allows much more data to be analyzed, giving very precise measurements and outstanding video quality.

Vestibular Test Battery
The VN415 test battery includes Spontaneous Nystagmus, Dix-Hallpike, Position and Bithermal Caloric tests. You can design your own test protocols and load these with a single mouse click. And there is a hand held infra red device that allows you to remotely step through tests.

Remote Controlled Tests
It is possible to step through the tests using a remote device. This can either be a USB connected footswitch or an infrared hand held device.

Sharing Information
VN415 has export functions designed around referral and consultation with balance testing colleagues. Results as well as recordings can be exported. Colored printed reports are available in each test.

Spontaneous Nystagmus Test

The spontaneous nystagmus test is used to record non-evoked eye movements. This test is conducted with goggle cover attached to the front of the mask. This allows for recordings with the eyes open in complete darkness thus eliminating any possibility of fixation.

Positional Tests

The Positional Tests allows the examiner to compare several measurements collected with the patient in a variety of positions, for e.g. “head to the right” The statistical analysis is identical to the analysis of the spontaneous nystagmus test. Various tests can be displayed on one page; the number of tests that can be displayed will depend on which options you select when configuring the test. If you choose to collect both horizontal and vertical data the number of tests displayed on a single page will be fewer then if you only collect either horizontal or vertical data.

Caloric Irrigation Test

The caloric irrigation test acquires eye movement data during direct stimulation of the vestibular organ using an irrigator to provide temperature controlled air or water. Recorded data is analyzed for slow phase velocity and frequency of nystagmus beating and is displayed in various standard diagrams. In addition, the values for unilateral weakness and directional preponderance are calculated and displayed (see below).

Before the caloric irrigation test is performed, a spontaneous nystagmus (SPN) beating can be recorded. This is recommended for patients that have shown nystagmus in conditions without stimulation. The average slow phase velocity determined during the caloric SPN test is used in the calculation of directional preponderance.
